Peer Mentor

Incoming underrepresented first-year students may request to be paired with upper-class mentors, who will...

  • Aid in making the first-years students' Truman experience more positive and more successful;

  • Familiarize the students with the campus and university life;

  • Advise students on everything from selecting classes to joining organizations;

  • Form strong bonds that foster friendly relationships and open social doors for first-year students;

  • And help the students become cohesive units of the Truman community.

If you would like more information about the Peer Mentor program, please contact Bertha Thomas at bthomas@truman.edu or (660) 785-4142.

"The MAC is truly a valuable resource for me and the underrepresented community on Truman's campus.  If I'm having a problem I can come in and get help from a staff member or one of my peers.  The various programs offered by the MAC give me an outlet to relax and get involved.  The MAC's resources help keep structure in my educational career."
