Truman's Stories for the Multicultural Soul II
INFORMED CONSENT
In 2001 in an effort to provide students an opportunity to use their voices to make a positive impact, the Multicultural Affairs Center (MAC) along with a student organization produced “Truman Stories for the Multicultural Soul.” This publication has served as a personal narrative of the marginalized student population on Truman State University’s campus. Stories were collected from various individuals on campus addressing topics such as academics, social relationships, racism, campus involvement and personal development. Our target is recreate this project to collect personal experiences and narratives from a variety of underrepresented students to provide them an opportunity to pass down the defining moments of their Truman experience. As a result, you are invited to participate in a “Truman Stories for the Multicultural Soul II.”
You were selected to be notified of this project because you are a currently enrolled student at Truman State University. If you desire to participate, you will have the opportunity to submit a brief narrative regarding a defining moment in your experience at Truman State University.
All individuals submitting a personal narrative will have the opportunity to enter a drawing for one (1) of three (3) $25.00 Wal-Mart gift cards. Those wishing to enter the drawing will have the opportunity to indicate such on the narrative submission form.
Participation in this project is voluntary. Your decision to participate or not to participate will not affect future relations with the Multicultural Affairs Center or Truman State University. If you decide to participate, you may withdraw your submission from the project any time prior to printing. You may do so by contacting Laura Bates, MAC Program Coordinator, via email LBates@truman.edu.
